The most outstanding region in the Eastern Europe

Ukraine is a unitary state situated in the south of Central Europe. Every region which comprised into this country has its own local authorities. The capital of Ukraine – Kiev and Sevastopol have the status of separate provinces too. The result of the orange revolution which took place in 2004, is that Ukraine has got the status of semi-presidential republic. Nowadays the system of power in that country has a very interesting structure: the power is divided between several branches of authority. Ukraine borders on Bulgaria, Romania, Poland, Moldova and Hungary form the west, Turkey form the south; the Russian boundary is the longest one it is from North and East. There are two mountain systems in Ukraine: Carpathian and Crimea, Crimea mountains are younger and lower. The imaginary line which is considered to be the boundary between the eastern and the western parts of the country is river Dnieper. This river brings the great deal of hydroelectric power for Ukraine. Every winter there is much snow here but the climate is quite mild and temperature is not so low. The summers are wet with temperatures frequently going about 30 Centigrade. Nevertheless, the weather is dry and hot most of the time.

Agriculture is the sphere which is very developed in this country. It is produced by such favorable climate terms. Ukraine is believed to be one of the largest exporters of sugar. In common, the country develops lots of produce: maize, corn, vegetables, fruit, etc. Kiev is one of the oldest cities in Europe. It was founded approximately in the 5th century and has long and amazing history. It started as a little trading settlement and evolved into the center of Slavic civilization in the Eastern part of Europe. The decrease of development of Kiev was caused by the Mongolian invasion in the 13th century, the city was fully destroyed for a very long time. In the 20th century Kiev was the capital of Ukrainian Soviet Republic that was included into the Soviet Union. It was a great chance for Kiev to become a world known city again. Nowadays the population of Kiev is about 3 million people. According to the censuses the population is rapidly growing year by year. Most of population is Ukrainians and Russians, but there is a great deal of various ethnic groups which live there for several hundreds years. During the 70s and 80s, the city saw constant increasing in population that in turn reflected in the development of real estate. Among blue and white blocks of flats appeared modern downtown buildings. During several last years Kiev has received the status of full-fledged European city with many chic restraints and luxury hotels.

Ukraine economy gains power after the time of post Soviet troubles. Nowadays Ukraine is very respectable country that is known not as a region of the Soviet Union, but as autonomous country. Ukraine is also going to become a member of WTO after it ratifies the covenant.
