The process of speaking to an audience to influence, inform and entertain them is known as public speaking. Public speaking has another name - "forensics". This is a kind of art form that is performed in front of the listeners in a scientific way. Public speaker does the work.

In general, public speaking can be a story telling or idea sharing session. The main motto of a public speaker is to create awareness and social development.

In public speaking, there are five basic elements. These are who, what, whom, medium and effect. Many societies have various purposes to fulfill. Some of the purposes are common in all of them. It is the public speakers job to make people understand and execute those purposes by keeping all five elements in mind.

As par the history goes, public speaking started 2500 years ago with the knowledge and experience of the Greek civilization. The Greek people wanted to modify their society and practice peace. They needed public speakers for the purpose.

Now the medium of public speakers has changed but the basic elements remained the same. Moreover, technology joined in hand with public speaking and created new dimensions. At present public speakers use sound and video accelerator to involve thousands of audience in a single speech.

Public speakers are very much needed in leadership and motivation. Leader of a group or country must have the quality of a good public speaker. Sometimes the speaking ability is all that matters for leading a team or a country.

People are interested in becoming a public speaker can join existing institutes and training clubs. These institutes help improve the speaking skills and other speaking related skills. The teaching of becoming a public speaker involves use of gesture; control of voice, vocabulary, speaking humor, communicating with the audience etc.

A public speaker faces a lot of problems besides narrating the speech to the audience. Fear is the worst one in the list. When people face fear, they get nerves. It happened countless time that a public speaker could not say anything in front of the audience because of fear. Symptoms like shaking, delaying in speeches and missing the point is most common ones in such cases. The fear in a public speaker is called "Glossophobia". This problem even affects the funeral program; people feel fear of the traditional actions.

Both ancient and modern civilization requires the touch of public speakers. A good vision provided by a public speaker can change a lot in the society. Certain assurance by a public speaker can show a way to go ahead. The power that he / she hold is way stronger than any weapons. But the concern is, this power can damage both the side! Good hearted public speakers use it in a good way, others do not.
